The EPBD is coming into force

Starting in 2027, the era of designing HVAC installations as "isolated islands" comes to an end.

Systems can no longer operate in the background without oversight. New regulations require continuous energy tracking, performance drop detection, and real-time anomaly reporting.

Every design must now include metering (heat, cooling, and electricity meters) along with communication protocols capable of transmitting this data directly to the building manager.

Advanced controls will become mandatory for systems over 290 kW, and by the end of 2029, this threshold will drop to just 70 kW. The days of equipment that simply "heats or blows" in total disconnection from the rest of the building are gone for good.
